FEATURE FILMS

My father would’ve been proud to see both of these features reviewed in what he called, the good ol’ New York Times.

+1

Colorful promotional poster featuring a woman with wet hair, neon lights, and the words "Everyone Wants One" in the center. Additional text mentions a film produced by IFC Midnight and credits various cast and crew members.

“The movie’s boldness and horrifying logic get under your skin.”

-Jeanne Catsoulis, The New York Times

Three college friends go to a hedonistic party, each looking for something different. When a mysterious phenomenon disrupts the party, the friends struggle to find what they're looking for as the party descends into a chaos that challenges if they can stay friends or if they can even stay alive.

Directed by Dennis Iliadis

Screenplay by Bill Gullo

THE QUITTER

Poster for the movie 'The Quitter' featuring a man and woman standing apart on a boardwalk at the beach, facing each other with a row of railings between them, and the ocean in the background.

“A textured, heartfelt drama ... a simple story well told.”

-Anita Gates, The New York Times

A failed baseball player has his life upended when his ex-girlfriend returns to the neighborhood with the 7-year-old daughter he never knew he had. A grounded, slice-of-life portrait of a man trying, awkwardly but sincerely, to become the best version of himself.

Directed by Matthew Bonifacio

SHORTS

My short films have played at top film festivals including Tribeca, Palm Springs, and Aspen Shortsfest.

THE IGNORANT BLISS OF SUN AND MOON

DIRECTED BY JOHN HYAMS
WRITTEN BY BILL GULLO - 6 mins

Adapted from my short story of the same name, the sun and moon do their best to help a struggling everyman hold onto the fleeting moments that make life worth living. We shot this over one weekend with a crew that consisted of me and John and a cast of one: Scott Sowers (RIP).

Part of a black cover with the text 'unwavey everywhere' and blurred images of colorful flowers or abstract shapes.

ONE YEAR DOWN

WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY BILL GULLO - 12 MINS

In my directorial debut, a father wants to do some good - any good - on a day that threatens to break his spirit. After he fails to simply help a woman cross the street, a nostalgic sandwich gives him what he needs, and he’s able to find his way home.

STAGE

My first venture into theater played at the NYC International Fringe Festival with a cast of a dozen actors and a profound collaboration with Tony-award winning choreographer Warren Carlyle.

The cover of a musical play titled 'You Again' showing a man with a double image effect in a classroom with a clock and calendar in the background.

YOU AGAIN

a Musical about Cloning

BOOK & LYRICS BY BILL GULLO MUSIC BY ROB WAGNER

“A straight-faced comedic musical — it succeeds and entertains so well.”

-Alyssa Simon, NYTheater.com

A substitute teacher uncovers a sad scientist’s plan to clone the school’s student population. Along the way, an orphaned son searches for a home, a madman challenges his creator, and an impossible love survives. Composer Rob Wagner crafts a score that sits somewhere between Randy Newman and Magnetic Fields, beautiful songs for a strange and funny story.

DIGITAL

I lean into a DIY sensibility with digital content. I shot a web series on my couch, and I provide audiences with writing tips while walking my dog, Percy.

A man and woman sitting on a beige couch in a living room, with a distressed or confused expression on their faces. There are framed pictures hanging on the wall behind them and decorative pillows on the couch. The word "Couples." is written in pink text on the left side of the image.

Couples

Frank and Enid struggle with everything from dishwashers to bananas to the tax guy’s jawline. Will they manage to improve their union?

A man dressed in a green winter jacket and jeans standing outdoors on a snowy path with a brown dog sitting next to him. Leafless trees are in the background. Text overlays indicate the man is named Bill Gullo, mentioning activities like walking the dog and giving writing tips, with additional references to Percy.

  • “Bill Gullo is a great collaborator. He knows just the right questions to ask me about character and plot to help spur on my own writing, while also delivering very concrete ideas for specific story points and dialogue.”

  • “What sets Bill Gullo apart from most screenwriting consultants is that he’s a working and produced screenwriter. His very specific process and deeply personal approach to story, character and structure will be invaluable and a breath of fresh air to any screenwriter.”Matthew Bonifacio | Writer/Director/Producer (The Quitter, Lbs)
